Numbers compiled by the Secretary of State's office show that 35,991 voters requested Republican primary ballots and 34,611 voters request Democratic ballots for the May 22 primary. This is a difference of 1,380.

These figures are current as of May 6, 2018.

Both parties' primaries feature a number of key races including governor, lt. governor and secretary of state.

In-person early voting continues through May 18. Absentee ballots that were mailed out must be returned to the county elections office by 7:00PM on May 22.
