Majestic Realty Tight-Lipped About Future Plans for Body of Christ Church in South Fulton

Could more warehouses, similar to the more than 1-million-square-foot Procter & Gamble facility at the intersection of Buffington and Flat Shoals Roads in south Fulton County, eventually replace the nearby Body of Christ Church International?

Georgia Unfiltered reached out to Majestic Realty, Monday, about their future plans after learning the company purchased nearly 82 acres of land currently used for religious services in 2013. Majestic did not respond to our inquiry.

Founded in 1983 by Dr. Joseph M. Ripley, the Body of Christ Church International relocated from Fayetteville to their present location at 3650 Flat Shoals Road in 2002.

Publicly available tax records show the church campus was sold to Majestic Realty for $10.1 million.

Majestic Realty is a developer of large industrial real estate. The company was responsible for developing the land across from the Body of Christ Church into a 1-million-plus square foot distribution hub for consumer product giant Procter & Gamble. The facility opened in the spring of 2015.

Local residents, including an elected official from a nearby city, seem wary of Majestic's future plans.

Nine individuals, including South Fulton City Council member Rosie Jackson, spoke against a proposal to rezone the property from office institutional and multi-family residential to light industrial at a May 2017 Union City City Council meeting.

The Union City City Council approved the Majestic zoning request over Jackson's objections, but attached several conditions to the land.

The Body of Christ Church, International still holds services at the Flat Shoals sanctuary, which is located near the Pointer Ridge residential community and S.L. Lewis Elementary School.
