Union City Receives 35.9 Acre Annexation Petition for Property Near Langston Hughes High School

Union City, a south Fulton County municipality with an estimated population of 20,458, recently received an annexation petition dated 12 October 2015.

D.R. Horton, the owner of 35.9 acres along Jones Road in unincorporated south Fulton County, wants their property in Union City.

The land is valued at $357,000, according to Fulton County tax records.

Fulton County Commissioners are expected to approve the 35.9 acre annexation request at its 18 November 2015 meeting.

Staff in the county's planning and zoning department has found no basis upon which to file a valid objection to the annexation.

Since the start of 2015, Fulton County has received ten petitions for annexations from five different cities, accounting for nearly 9.6% of the land in unincorporated south Fulton. That amount adds up to 2,480 people and 6,275 acres.
