Morgan Freeman, Dustin Hoffman, and Rene Russo starred in the 1995 motion picture Outbreak; a film that explored how the United States government would respond to a deadly virus epidemic in small town suburbia.
Twenty years after Outbreak first premiered in theaters, the CW network and Warner Bros. television is re-telling the tale. This time, however, the deadly outbreak is in a major international city -- Atlanta.'
When a mysterious and deadly epidemic breaks out in Atlanta, a vast urban quarantine is quickly enforced, forcing those stuck on the inside to fight for their lives while local and federal officials desperately search for a cure.
Containment is the name of the show. It stars David Gyasi (Cloud Atlas, Interstellar), Christina Moses, Chris Wood (The Vampire Diaries, The Carrie Diaries), Claudia Black (Stargate SG-1), and Kristen Gutoskie.
Containment --executive produced by Julie Plec, Matt Corman, and Chris Ord-- spent three weeks filming its pilot in and around metro Atlanta, utilizing several locations that well known to people who call Georgia's capital city home. In addition, producers relied heavily on Atlanta's deep bench of extras for various scenes in the show.
Attendees of Comic-Con, the annual San Diego entertainment and gaming convention, will get to see a special screening of the pilot next month.
The rest of us will have to wait until the show airs on television.
Containment is a mid-season series premiering on the CW network in 2016.
