Some have started calling Atlanta "ATLWood" due to the sheer number of Hollywood productions shooting on location in Georgia's capital city.
A 20% tax credit (30% if the production includes the "Georgia" logo in their film or TV show) is helping to coax Hollywood from California to the Peach State. One television program taking advantage of the tax break is the BET series "Being Mary Jane."
Being Mary Jane stars Gabrielle Union (Bring It On, Deliver Us From Eva) as the title character, Mary Jane, and follows her personal and professional life as she tries to find the right man.
Folks might have already seen some of the production going on in their neighborhoods. Locations like Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale and the Villages at Carver YMCA have both been used in scenes shot for the show.
Project Casting.com says Being Mary Jane producers are looking for extras as the show continues shooting through June 2015.
Extras are paid $75 for an eight hour shift, plus overtime if the day goes longer.
