Representative Billy Mitchell (D - Stone Mountain) [shown right] pre-filed a bill ahead of the 2015 legislative session mandating body cameras for all Georgia police officers.

House Bill 32 (H.B. 32) reads, "All law enforcement officers in this state shall be equipped with body cameras."

H.B. 32 does not indicate how city and county law enforcement agencies would pay for equipping their officers with body cameras. However, in the aftermath of the shooting death Michael Brown by a Ferguson, Missouri police officer, police body cameras have become the cause célèbre for activists seeking change in the law enforcement community.
