69-year-old Woman Robbed at South Fulton Kroger, Raising New Concerns About Area Safety & Crime

Imagine this.

Imagine a mother or grandmother makes a trip down to her corner grocer for a few items. As this family matriarch loads her bags into the car, imagine a man coming up and violently snatching the lady's purse from her before making a quick getaway.

It's difficult to imagine, is it not?

For 69-year-old Joyce George, this is no imaginary story. This is real.

WSB-TV reported, 9 January 2015, Joyce George was a victim of a snatch and grab crime at the Kroger on Old National Highway in unincorporated south Fulton County.

Unfortunately for Joyce George and other south Fulton residents, violent crime is not the exception. It is the new normal on one of the major thoroughfares in south Fulton County, Old National Highway.

Within the last fourteen days, the area where Joyce George was robbed --the intersection of Old National Highway and Flat Shoals Road-- saw sixteen thefts, a stolen car, counterfeiting, and an assault with a deadly weapon.
