Michelle Obama to Campaign in Atlanta Next Week On Behalf of Michelle Nunn

The White House announced, Wednesday morning, that First Lady Michelle Obama would be visiting Atlanta next week to campaign for U.S. Senate candidate Michelle Nunn.

The event, which is billed as a "voter registration rally" will take place the afternoon of 8 September.

Prior to the First Lady's campaign stop for the Nunn campaign, she will visit Booker T. Washington High School for a "Prep Rally" featuring Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.

The “Prep Rally” will highlight efforts by Mrs. Obama’s Reach Higher initiative and the Obama Administration to increase access and opportunity for all students. The First Lady’s Reach Higher initiative focuses on the importance of pursuing and completing some form of higher education, and encourages students to do their part to answer the President’s call to ensure that by the year 2020, America once again has the highest proportion of college graduates in the world.

The First Lady will begin her visit to Booker T. Washington High School with a short tour of a college fair that will be set up for students.

The First Lady will then deliver remarks at a Reach Higher “Prep Rally” in the high school’s gymnasium. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and MTV reporter Sway Calloway will also deliver remarks.

Michelle Obama will also participate in a roundtable benefitting the Nunn campaign and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
