New Film Examines Black ATL Megachurch Pastors Who Use Prayer to Line Their Pockets with Cash

Atlanta is home to two of the largest megachurches in the nation -- World Changers Church International and New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.

The leaders of these two churches, Creflo Dollar and Eddie Long, have effectively used the Bible and religion to build their bank accounts on the backs of their largely black congregations.

A new documentary by Moguldom Studios takes a look at Dollar and Long --two so-called Prophets of Profit-- and focuses on the rise of the black megachurches that look at the gospel as a form of income.

Black Church, Inc., is a feature-length investigative documentary that examines the sensationalism of the black church and its present day relationship with serving the community.

The documentary compares the black church’s origins to its modern day cultural relevance. The film focuses on modern mega-churches, such as Atlanta's World Changers Church International and New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, and asks hard-hitting questions about service vs. the extravagant lifestyles of its multi-million dollar ministers and ministries.

College Park, Georgia, home to Creflo Dollar's World Changers Church International, is a community hard hit by the Great Recession of 2008 and 2009. Many residents have lost their homes to foreclosure or seen their property values plummet. Unemployment and crime remain high in the community surrounding Creflo Dollar's church. Yet, his mega-church, along with many others, continue to raise hundreds of millions of dollars to fund their pastors’ exorbitant lifestyles.

Through interviews with clergy members, politicians, community leaders and journalists, Black Church, Inc., explores whether the preachers, parishioners or communities are the benefactors of the millions of tax free revenue generated by religious organizations.

Black Church, Inc., is now available for download on iTunes and Google Play.
