Fulton Commissioner Reports $99K in Campaign Cash on Hand, But Doesn't Show How He Got It

If one is to believe the 31 January 2014 campaign finance disclosure filed by Fulton County Commission Bill Edwards, he had a fantastic fundraising month.

After ending 2013 with an account deficit of $3,056.93, Edwards now reports having $99,529.71 cash in his campaign account.

There's one problem, though. Edwards doesn't show where the money came from.

A Georgia Unfiltered review of Edwards' campaign contribution disclosure reports (CCDR) filed with the Fulton County Department of Registration and Elections only show the Fulton County Democrat collecting $10,180.51 between 1 January and 31 January 2014. That leaves several thousand dollars of campaign contributions unaccounted for.

In addition, Edwards may run afoul of campaign finance laws by listing his Fulton County government office as his campaign headquarters on the CCDR.

Last week, Georgia Unfiltered reported Fulton County Commission Bill Edwards did not file his 31 December 2012 CCDR with the State Ethics Commission. He also failed to file his 30 June 2013 campaign finance report with the state. During that time period, $102,586.64 contained in Edwards' campaign account disappeared.
