Carrollton Republican Proposes Term Limits for Georgia State Senators

Mike Dugan wants term limits for his colleagues in the Georgia Senate.

The Carrollton Republican has pre-filed a constitutional amendment, Senate Resolution 734, to limit individuals from serving more than three full terms of office or 14 years in the Senate, whichever is greater.

Dugan's bill also extends a Senator's term from the current two years to four years. The terms of office for members of the Georgia House would remain the same, and there would be no limit to the number of terms a person could serve in the House.

The 2014 legislative session begins 13 January 2013.
