Wednesday, Kia Motors of America (KMA) announced their highest U.S. sales ever for the month of April.

Kia sold 47,556 cars last month, of which the Georgia-built Optima and Sorento accounted for nearly 50 percent.

Governor Nathan Deal, who visited the Kia Motors Facility in West Point this week, had this to say, "Kia and the Georgians who work there are producing excellent products that are increasingly popular. I was just at Kia today in West Point to sign international business-friendly legislation and I was able to see their latest models. From what I saw, you can expect Kia's success to continue unabated."

In 2012, the Georgia-built Optima and Sorento accounted for 82,022 of Kia's 185,610 total sales.
