White Guilt on Display: Lily White Liberal Group Better Georgia Lectures Gov. Deal on Diversity

"White Guilt:" a belief, often subconscious, among white liberals that being white is, in and of itself, a great transgression against the rest of the world for which one must spend their life making atonement.

--From the Urban Dictionary

Thursday afternoon, I was exposed to a little bit of white guilt from a liberal organization who refers to themselves as "Better Georgia."

It seems that "Better Georgia" is upset with Governor Nathan Deal for using competency and not skin color to determine his picks for positions in state government.

"Better Georgia" political director Don Weigel wrote, in an email this week, "We need a state government that looks like Georgia.

Tell Gov. Deal that we want executive appointments to reflect what Georgia really looks like -- appointments that are diverse and bring together people of all backgrounds, ethnicities and genders."

This latest stunt from "Better Georgia" is a textbook example of white guilt. These white liberals believe that being white is, in and of itself, a great transgression against the rest of the world for which they must spend their life making atonement. Atonement being, in this case, calling on Governor Deal to use skin tone, gender or both when selecting folks for state government jobs.

The irony here is that "Better Georgia" isn't all that diverse.

"Better Georgia" executive director Bryan Long is a white guy from Alabama. "Better Georgia" political director Don Weigel is a white guy from upstate New York.

"Better Georgia" is a registered corporation with the Georgia Secretary of State's office, and guess who's listed as officers of the corporation?

Yeah. You guessed it. Some more white people.

Jarome Gautreaux is an attorney from Macon, Georgia. Gautreaux is listed as both the CFO and Secretary of "Better Georgia." Jarome Gautreaux lives in a voting precinct that is 77.4% white. So a white guy, who lives in an area that is super-majority white, is an officer in an organization staffed by other white people; and this organization is lecturing the Governor on diversity?!?!

White liberals . . . they don't know when to quit, do they?
