Bipartisan Group of Legislators Propose Panel to Study High Speed Rail from Atlanta to Savannah

Keep an eye on this one, folks. It could dramatically change the Georgia landscape.

House Resolution 174, sponsored by Democrats and Republicans from Atlanta and Savannah, creates a committee to "determine the feasibility of a high speed rail line connecting the cities of Atlanta and Savannah and whether legislation relevant thereto would be beneficial to the State of Georgia and its citizens."

The study committee would consist of five members of the House of Representatives appointed by House Speaker David Ralston. The committee's findings would be reported on or before the convening of the 2014 session of the General Assembly

H.R. 174 was referred to the House Committee on Transportation.
