Obama to Anne Cox Chambers: Your Father Didn't Build WSB . . .Somebody Else Did That

In 1948, James M. Cox founded the South's first television station.

Launched on September 29, 1948, WSB-TV was built into a broadcasting powerhouse that has been the news ratings leader in Atlanta for as long as records have been kept.

The descendants of James M. Cox still lead WSB-TV and its affiliates to this very day. Cox Enterprises, the parent company of WSB, is run by the grandson of James M. Cox, James Cox Kennedy. Anne Cox Chambers, the daughter of James M. Cox, is the primary owner of Cox Enterprises and one of the richest women in the world.

Recently, Barack Obama said, "If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen."

Obama's comments must have come as a real surprise to Anne Cox Chambers and her family. According to Obama, James M. Cox didn't build WSB and Cox Enterprises. Somebody else did that.

Mitt Romney, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, correctly noted that Obama's remarks are out of sync with the American vision.

Romney: Obama's Comments Reveal Why He Has Not Fixed The Economy

"The idea to say that Steve Jobs didn’t build Apple, that Henry Ford didn’t build Ford Motor, that Papa John didn’t build Papa John Pizza, that Ray Kroc didn’t build McDonald’s, that Bill Gates didn’t build Microsoft, you go on the list, that Joe and his colleagues didn’t build this enterprise, to say something like that is not just foolishness, it is insulting to every entrepreneur, every innovator in America and it’s wrong," Romney said at a campaign stop in Irwin, Pennsylvania.

America is built upon the entrepreneurial spirit; the idea that someone can start a business, grown that business, make some money, and pass that business on to the next generation.

Cox Enterprises and WSB-TV is the legacy of James M. Cox. The continued growth of Cox Enterprises and WSB is due to the hard work of his daughter, Anne Cox Chambers and his grandson, James Cox Kennedy.

Nobody else deserves credit for building Cox Enterprises and WSB other than the Cox Family. Any person who says otherwise is a complete fool, including Barack Obama.
