"Democrats Think They are Helping Blacks with Government Programs. . . "

". . . But the Democrats are really hurting them."

That is the true legacy of Lyndon Baines Johnson, and that is the true legacy of the Democratic Party. An entire generation of blacks; folks who share my skin tone are dependent on the government because of the Democrats.
Recently, my mother, who turns 66 in November, gave credit to the Republicans for promoting capitalism and creating a pro-business climate in the state of Georgia. Then my mother said something to me that almost made me choke.

She said, "Democrats think they are helping blacks with government programs, but the Democrats are really hurting them."

There is a controversy brewing in Illinois over the comments of Republican Congressman Joe Walsh, who said, "The Democratic Party promises groups of people everything. They want the Hispanic vote, they want Hispanics to be dependent on government, just like they got African Americans dependent on government. That's their game."

Some are calling Congressman Walsh's comments racist. I don't believe his remarks are racist. I believe they are true.

When Lyndon Baines Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, he famously declared, "We have lost the South for a generation."

Lyndon Johnson then went on to enact his so-called "Great Society" programs; programs that made blacks dependent on the government for a generation.

Congressman Walsh correctly stated, "Once you're dependent on government, you'll continue to vote for the party of government."

Every two years, the Democrats run into the black community, and whip the black voters into a frenzy with claims that if Republicans are elected, they'll cut black folks' food stamps; they'll cut black folks' Section 8; they'll cut black folks' Medicaid; and they'll cut black folks' TANF.

And every two years, it works. Upwards of 90% of blacks vote for the Democrats.

That is the true legacy of Lyndon Baines Johnson, and that is the true legacy of the Democratic Party. An entire generation of blacks; folks who share my skin tone are dependent on the government because of the Democrats.
