Lost in the flurry of press conferences and legal maneuvering Friday, was a report from WSB-TV validating some of the posts appearing here regarding Georgia Democratic Party political director Rashad Richey's past criminal history.

"Richey had a series of misdemeanor convictions for criminal trespass and simple battery. Channel 2 Action News has now learned Richey also had a felony conviction for aggravated assault in 1998 but was sentenced as a first-time offender. When he completed his sentence, the felony was wiped from his record" [Elliot, Richard (2012-5-4). Georgia Democrats' director record comes to light. WSB-TV. Retrieved on 2012-5-5.].

Rashad Richey, according to channel 2, had a felony conviction in 1998.

Rashad Richey signed a plea of guilty to charges of simple battery and criminal trespass in 2008. With that guilty plea, Rashad Richey became a convicted criminal.

IMG_0004(redacted)In 2010, Rashad Richey denied being the father of a five year old girl, and was ordered by Clayton County Judge Deborah Benefield to take a paternity test. The order is pictured left. The results came back and Rashad Richey was indeed the father.

Judge Benefield then ordered $798 to be withheld each and every month from Rashad Richey's paycheck. FEC campaign finance reports show that the Democratic Party of Georgia has been making payments to the Family Support Registry in compliance with Judge Benefield's order.

Rashad Richey, political director for the Democratic Party of Georgia, has now filed suit against this blog and other blogs for telling the truth.

But folks, despite the claims made by Richey in his ludicrous lawsuit, telling the truth is not a bad thing.
