Dear #gadems, Is There Any Truth to the Obama Pledge to Half the Deficit?

Last week, Georgia Democrats proudly announced the formation of "Truth Teams" to promote the President’s achievements, respond to attacks on his record and hold the Republican nominee accountable.

I admit I was highly amused at the creation of these (ahem) "Truth Teams," especially given the fact that the Democratic Party of Georgia doesn't exactly have a good track record of telling the truth.

The best example of this came nearly two years ago when state Democrats claimed Republicans "mismanaged unemployment benefits." PolitiFact Georgia gave the Democrats' claim a big fat false rating.

But Democrats hope the voters don't have good memories. Democratic Party leaders hope people will not remember PolitiFact exposing the false statements put forth by Georgia Democrats in 2010. Georgia Democrats hope Georgians won't remember this statement made by President Obama last February:

Obama Pledges to Half Deficit by 2013

Obama said it. Obama said, "That's why, when I was sworn in as President, I pledged to cut the deficit in half by the end of my first term."

Make no bones about it, I am attacking the President's record. I am saying President Obama reneged on his pledge to cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term. And I challenge the Georgia Democrat "Truth Team" to respond to my attack.

Is there any truth to Obama's pledge to cut the deficit in half?
