Ethics Committee Sends Presidential Primary Bill to Senate Floor

Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp is one step closer to having a new duty added to his job description:

Setting the date of the state's presidential preference primary.

The Senate Ethics Committee passed out House Bill 454, Monday. HB 454 is legislation that would allow the Secretary of State to choose the date of Georgia's presidential primary so long as the date is no later than the first Tuesday in June.

HB 454 passed the House earlier in March by a vote of 153 to 21.
