GOP Sweep of Georgia Made Conservative Exodus From Democrat Party A Lot Easier

With conservatives bolting from the Georgia Democratic Party, I'm reminded of an episode from the NBC political drama The West Wing.

In the season 5 episode "Constituency of One," heavy-handed tactics from White House Deputy Chief of Staff Josh Lyman (played by Bradley Whitford) led to conservative Idaho Senator Chris Carrick (played by Tom Skerritt) resigning from the Democratic Party.

As he received Carrick's letter of resignation, Lyman asked incredulously, "You're leaving the party be... this is 'cause of me?!"

Carrick responded to Josh, "I'm not leaving 'cause of you. But you made it a whole lot easier."

In that same vein, conservatives aren't leaving the Democratic Party of Georgia because of the November 2nd GOP sweep, but those Republican victories made it a whole lot easier.
