Savannah Morning News Endorses Isakson, Amendments 2, 3, 4 and 5

This week, the Savannah Morning News rolled out its first slate of endorsements for the November General Election.

In the U.S. Senate race between Republican Johnny Isakson and Democrat Michael Thurmond, the Savannah paper backed Isakson.

In the face of stiff political headwinds in Washington, Sen. Johnny Isakson has remained steadfast in his philosophies on fiscal conservatism and national security.

. . .Mr. Isakson has remained reliably conservative, supporting taxpayer- and business-friendly legislation and standing against federal overreach.

Georgia needs to keep him on the floor of the U.S. Senate, serving as a counter-balance to the Obama administration.

On the five proposed constitutional amendments facing voters at the ballot box, the Savannah Morning News editorial board supports amendments 2, 3, 4 and 5.
