Sarah Palin Endorses Ray McKinney for Congress

Ray McKinney, the Republican nominee for Congress from the 12th district of Georgia, picked up some major support Monday from 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

Palin announced her endorsement of McKinney on Facebook along with eight other candidates across the nation.

"We can count on Ray McKinney to be a strong, independent voice for Georgia’s 12th Congressional District," Palin writes. " Ray’s opponent has skipped over 75 votes in Congress since 2005, and he’s ducking debates when Georgians want answers."

Democrat John Barrow recently missed a televised debate, sponsored by the Atlanta Press Club, due to a "family commitment" [Peterson, Larry (2010-10-6). U.S. Rep. John Barrow skipping televised debate with Republican Ray McKinney. Savannah Morning News. Retrieved on 2010-10-12.].

“People in this country are tired of watching the Democratic Party spend our money and over-regulate our businesses,” McKinney said. “People in the 12th District are tired of watching John Barrow help.

"Although I am proud that national figures such as Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich support my vision for America, I am much more excited about the many, many people I meet here in Georgia who say they’re going to vote for me on November 2.”
