Georgia Association Of Educators Stays On Sidelines In Gubernatorial Race

That's Just Peachy links to pretty big story in this year's gubernatorial election:

The Georgia Association of Educators is withholding its endorsement.

The Georgia Association of Educators announced Monday night that its board could not agree on a candidate among the crowded list of people vying to replace outgoing Gov. Sonny Perdue.

Associated Press (2010-6-14). Ga. teacher group not making gubernatorial pick. Gainesville Times. Retrieved on 2010-6-15.

What does all this mean?

It means that Georgia's largest teachers' union will be on the sidelines as the Democrats and Republicans duke it out in front of the voters. It also suggests that former Gov. Roy Barnes may still have some bridges to rebuild with the state's teachers.

It appears that they aren't running back to Roy with open arms.
