Qualifying Opens For H.D.82 Special Democratic Primary

This morning, at 9AM, candidate qualifying will open up for the special Democratic primary election in state House district 82. The need for a special primary was precipitated by the abrupt withdrawal of state Rep. Kevin Levitas (D - Atlanta) from the race two weeks ago.

Levitas withdrawing left the 82nd district with no candidates --Democrat or Republican-- running for state Representative.

Insider Advantage Georgia reported May 11th that Democratic leaders wanted former Secretary of State candidate Scott Holcomb to fill Levitas' spot on the primary ballot. With qualifying re-opened, it is now a free-for-all to see who'll capture the Democratic nomination in House District 82.

The filing period ends Wednesday at high noon.
