ICYMI: Most Georgians (Including 67% Of Indys) Want KSU Student Deported

America is a nation of laws. And one of our laws say that if you're in this country illegally, you get deported.

That's the message emanating from a new Insider Advantage poll that says most Georgians are aware of the story of 21-year-old Kennesaw State University student Jessica Colotl and support efforts to deport her.

The poll asked: “Recently a student at Kennesaw State University who entered the United States at the age of 10 from Mexico and who is now 21 has been in the news. Are you...”

Aware of story and support efforts to deport her: 46%
Aware of story and oppose efforts to deport her: 16%
Not aware of the story and so have no opinion: 38%

Significantly, opposition to Colotl staying in America isn’t coming predominantly from the political right. While 46% of all Georgia voters support deportation, the number swells to 67% among voters who label themselves as independents.

This is a tough issue to sort through. Jessica Colotl is in the country illegally. There's no disputing that. But she's also in college getting an education, and that is something to be recognized.

I wonder if it is possible for Jessica Colotl to get a student visa so that she can complete her studies at Kennesaw State; make her pay out-of-state tuition; and require her to go through the process of becoming a naturalized U.S. citizen.

Just an idea.
