Democrat Scott Holcomb Qualifies For HD82, May Face Indy Candidate This Fall

On the last day of qualifying for the special Democratic primary in state House district 82, Scott Holcomb became the only candidate running to fill the ballot vacancy left by state Rep. Kevin Levitas.

However, Holcomb may face opposition this fall as a new candidate has emerged in the field -- independent Allan Williamson.

Williamson is the national committeeman for the Georgia Young Republicans, however he's running as an independent "due to the unusual circumstances" of Kevin Levitas announcing his retirement after the end of qualifying.

Williamson is currently collecting the signatures from 5% of registered voters in the 82nd district to be listed on the ballot. The filing deadline for independents is July 13th at 12NOON.
