Democrat Presides Over State Senate (Briefly)

The 40th day of the 2010 legislative session saw a Democrat presiding over the Georgia Senate for several bills.

State Sen. Steve Thompson (D - Marietta) took the gavel while Lt. Governor Casey Cagle posed for photographs with constituents, senators and other groups visiting the Capitol Thursday afternoon.

First elected to the Georgia House in 1980, Thompson has served in the Georgia Senate for close to twenty years.
