Thursday, at 10AM, the House State Planning & Community Affairs Committee will hold a hearing on House Resolution 21; a constitutional amendment that would "provide that the re-creation of a previously existing county which was merged into another county may be accomplished by law."
There are only two counties in the state that fits the language contained in HR 21; the former Campbell and Milton counties. Both counties were merged into what is now Fulton County during the Great Depression.
A lot of discussion and debate has occurred on this issue. I'm sure you know how I feel. Today, we find out how other legislators feel about re-creating previously existing counties.
