Senate Republicans Introduce Bill To Allow Online Voter Registration

The days when filling out a paper form was the only way a Georgian could register to vote are numbered.

A group of Republicans in the Georgia Senate, led by Cecil Staton (R - Macon), have introduced legislation that would allow people to register to vote securely online using their driver's license or state identification card.

Secretary of State Brian Kemp is already supporting the bill.

“This common sense, secure online voter registration initiative will utilize technology to increase citizen access to elections, save Georgia taxpayer dollars, and prevent voter registration fraud,” Secretary Kemp said.

Sen. Staton says Senate Bill 406 is a "safe, secure solution" towards ensuring that Georgians have every opportunity to exercise their right to vote.
