Random News Tips Heard At The Wild Hog Supper

Here's a bit of the news overheard at Sunday's Wild Hog Supper:

DeKalb County Commissioner Connie Stokes plans to announce her candidacy for Congress by the end of the month. Stokes is challenging Hank Johnson in the 4th district Democratic Primary.

The House Democratic Caucus intends to nominate state Rep. Calvin Smyre (D - Columbus) as its candidate for Speaker of the House.

Republican Brett Harrell is running for the state House seat currently held by Melvin Everson. Everson is running for Labor Commissioner.

Republican Ryan Lee is running for the state House seat held by Mike Keown. Keown is challenging Sanford Bishop for the 2nd district congressional seat.

Most of the statewide candidates were in attendance at the Wild Hog Supper including Sen. Johnny Isakson, State Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine, Congressman Nathan Deal and Lt. Governor Casey Cagle.
