Congressman Hank Johnson: "I Will Run On My Record"

Once again, it seems that there will be a crowded field of candidates vying for the Democratic Party nomination in Georgia's 4th congressional district.

DeKalb County Commissioner Connie Stokes plans to announce her candidacy at the end of the month. There are rumors that another DeKalb County Commissioner, Lee May, might run. And former DeKalb County CEO Vernon Jones is mounting a campaign too.

Congressman Hank Johnson, who ran unopposed in 2008, appears unfazed at the possibility of facing a primary challenge for the first time since he defeated Cynthia McKinney in 2006.

"I ask my supporters to stand with me as we face new challenges." said Johnson in a news release. "I will run on my record."

"Serious times call for serious representation, and the Fourth District will be well served by a vigorous, positive debate that presents a diversity of views. I look forward to a vigorous campaign and re-election to a third term."

Johnson is announcing his re-election campaign Saturday, January 16th.
