Vernon Jones Still Deciding On Future Political Endeavors

In an email Wednesday morning, former DeKalb County CEO Vernon Jones hinted at a possible run for political office in 2010. The message, which carried a heading of "Happy New Year", thanked past supporters before speculating on Jones' political future.

I know many of you are anticipating what comes next for me politically. I've really enjoyed my private life; spending time with family and friends. But, as I've said to you before, the final chapter has not been written on my political endeavors. That decision will be made soon as I continue to listen to you and your ideas as to how I can best serve Georgia and the American people. With your prayers and advice I intend to make my plans clear in the near future.

Jones, who ran unsuccessfully for the 2008 Democratic U.S. Senate nomination, is listed as a possible candidate for Governor and Secretary of State on the website Politics1.com.

There are also rumors that Jones may challenge 4th district Congressman Hank Johnson for his seat next year.
