New Estimates Show Georgia Picking Up Additional Seat In Congress

Last week, the Census Bureau said Georgia has an estimated population of more than nine million, making the Peach State the ninth most populous state in the nation [Atlanta Business Chronicle (2009-12-22). Now, a new round of projections from PoliData says that Georgia will gain another seat where it counts. . .in the United States Congress.

Right now, the Democrats in Georgia have no leverage to influence redistricting. However, they hope next year's elections will change that.
