Fmr. Lt. Governor Candidate Considering Campaign For Agriculture Commissioner

Three years ago, Griffin Lotson mounted a campaign for Lt. Governor in which he finished fourth in the Democratic primary [SOURCE: Georgia Secretary of State].

Then, Lotson briefly flirted with the idea of running for Georgia state Democratic Party chair [Walker, Andre (2006-7-21). Griffin Lotson for DPG Chair?. Georgia Politics Unfiltered. Retrieved on 2009-12-29.].

Late Monday, Griffin Lotson emailed that he's considering a campaign for Commissioner of Agriculture. Tommy Irvin has held the office for over four decades, but he's not seeking re-election in 2010. Lotson is the first Democrat to publicly acknowledge an interest in the job, although it is rumored that 2008 U.S. Senate candidate Rand Knight may run as well as former Georgia House Speaker Terry Coleman.
