Georgia Ranks 41 On "Unhealthiest States" List

For the nineteenth time, the American Public Health Association and the Partnership for Prevention advocacy group has released its "America's Health Rankings" list and for at least the second consecutive year, Georgia ranks in the bottom ten according to the rankings.

Louisiana knocked off Missouri as the "unhealthiest state" in the union while Vermont maintained the distinction of being the nation's "healthiest state" [Source: Fox News.com, "Louisiana Unseats Mississippi as Unhealthiest State", December 4, 2008].

According to the report, Georgia can attribute its low rank to a low high school
graduation rate; a high incidence of infectious disease; high levels of air pollution; and a high rate of uninsured population.
