Georgia Congressional Incumbents Rule The Day

For the eleven individuals who challenged Georgia Congressmen Jack Kingston, Sanford Bishop, Lynn Westmoreland, Tom Price, John Linder, Jim Marshall, Nathan Deal, Paul Broun, Phil Gingrey, John Barrow and David Scott, they've learned a very valuable lesson.

It is extremely difficult to unseat a sitting member of Congress.

Most of the incumbent U.S. Representatives defeated their opponents by wide margins. The exception, however, was in the 8th district where Democrat Jim Marshall currently leads Republican Rick Goddard by 39,031 votes.

The biggest disappointment of the night must go to Deborah Honeycutt who raised over $4 million, spent about the same amount and still ended up with a similar result to her first bid for Congress in 2006; a loss to David Scott by over 30 points.
