Starbucks has announced a promotion aimed at doing I'm not sure what other than giving away free cups of coffee on Election Day.

According to the event posting on Starbucks' Facebook page, all you have to do is come into your local Starbucks on Nov. 4th, tell them you voted, and they'll give you a tall cup of brewed coffee for free.

The free coffee promotion runs between 8AM and 10PM.

[UPDATE]: Krispy Kreme donuts has jumped in and is offering free donuts if you come in to your local store wearing an "I voted" sticker.

On Election Day, Nov. 4, 2008, participating Krispy Kreme stores will offer one free star-shaped doughnut with red, white and blue sprinkles to each customer wearing an "I Voted" sticker. While voters may not always agree on the best candidate, voters can agree on one thing: Celebrating one of America's most coveted constitutional rights can be oh-so sweet.
