Planned Parenthood Jumps Into Georgia Senate Race With Two Mailers For Jim Martin

More than 58,000 undecided female voters across the Peach State will be seeing two mail pieces from Planned Parenthood making the case for Jim Martin to succeed Saxby Chambliss as a United States Senator from Georgia.

According to a Planned Parenthood news release, the two-part mail series highlights the importance of women’s health in this election.

"With quality care less accessible and more expensive than ever, families need to know who will stand up for their needs, and who won’t," the release read. "[Democratic challenger Jim Martin] has an unwavering commitment to high-quality health care for every woman. Time and again, he has fought to ensure that women, children, and seniors have access to the best care at affordable prices. And as a Senator, he will continue to fight for their health."

The mail pieces describe Georgia Senator Saxby Chambliss’ out-of-touch record on issues that matter to real families saying that Chambliss:

  • has voted against health care for nearly 344,000 low-income children in Georgia;
  • has voted to cut Medicare funding seven times even as Georgia’s seniors struggle with health care costs; and
  • has voted against requiring insurance plans to cover basic prescription birth control.
