DSCC Investing An Additional $500,000 In Georgia Senate Race

Bill Shipp Online first broke the news yesterday that the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) purchased a t.v. ad buy for Jim Martin [Source: Bill Shipp Online, "DSCC Targets Georgia", October 14, 2008].

And the Atlanta Journal Constitution is out with the details of the Democrats' ad buy:

"Democrats at the national level have begun pumping money into Georgia’s U.S. Senate race, once thought to be a sure-bet for Republicans but now a real horse race, according to recent polls.

The size of DSCC order is substantial. At $514,950, it is much larger than any weekly TV ad buy made by Martin since of the start of his campaign. The ad is scheduled to run 369 times by next week [and] will run largely during news broadcasts and in prime time, during such popular programs as “Dancing with the Stars,” “House” and NFL Sunday pre-game show."

Those closely following the race between Jim Martin and Saxby Chambliss will more than likely be watching the polls very closely to see what kind of effect an increased television presence has on the state of the race.
