U.S. House Begins Debate On Economic Stablization Plan

The United States House of Representatives has started debating the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (H.R.3997). Georgia Congressmen John Lewis (D - 5th district) and John Linder (R - 7th district) have posted online the actual bill, a section by section summary of the bill and a one page summary of the bill.

On his congressional blog, John Linder wrote, "I am still reading through this "final" version for the first time myself," but gave no hints as to how he would vote [Source: linder.house.gov].

The Associated Press reports that a vote on the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act is expected sometime today with Republican and Democratic leaders both saying the final tally may be a "nail-biter." [Source: Associated Press, "Lawmakers, White House agree on $700B bailout", September 29, 2008]
