The First Week Of Early Voting Is Complete...Have You Voted Yet?

To the more than 18,000 people across this great state who have avoided the lines and voted early this week, thank you. You've done your civic duty and your voices have been heard.

As of September 1st, there are 5,489,495 registered voters in Georgia. If just 18,000 people voted this week (and we know it's more than that), then 5,471,495 have yet to cast their ballots.

Now I hate to be a nag about this, but if you're one of those 5.4 million Georgians who haven't voted, what are you waiting for?

It's like I told a friend of mine that lives in Covington, "You've got time to talk to me on the telephone, but you ain't got the time to go vote?" After that, she and her mother cast their early votes on Wednesday.

So what's your excuse for not voting?

It's raining. Can't vote. There is a chill in the air. Can't vote. I'll be out of town. Can't vote. I'll miss my soap operas. Can't vote. Mom's sick. Can't make it to the polls on Election Day. Those excuses and many others have been offered as reasons for not making it out of the house to cast a ballot and participate in our republican form of government. Wait...never mind the excuses. I don't want to hear it. Just vote.
