The Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) announced today that former President Jimmy Carter and Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin will lead in the efforts to "give back to the Denver community in a meaningful way and to highlight an issue that’s important to the Democratic Party – national service."

Wednesday, August 27th will mark the first-ever Delegate Service Day where Democratic National Convention delegates will participate in community service projects ranging from serving meals for the homeless and park cleanup, to reading to children and aiding military families.

The projects are being coordinated by Metro Volunteers, Democrats Work and Volunteers of America.

The Georgia Democratic National Convention delegation will participate in three community service projects:

graffiti removal;
revitalize and restore Aurora, Colorado's Bicentennial Park; and
sorting and packing food for Meals on Wheels.
