If John McCain Were Ronald Reagan...

...Every Republican from Walker County to Lowndes County would beat a path to wherever it is John McCain were appearing. But JohnnyMac isn't the "Great Communicator" so all we're hearing from the Georgia GOP is how they can't make it to tonight's Atlanta fundraiser for the Arizona Senator's presidential campaign.

[John]McCain is scheduled to be in Atlanta today to attend a fund-raiser on his behalf.

Two of his Republican colleagues in the U.S. Senate, Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss, both of whom were early supporters of the Arizona Republican’s presidential campaign, will be there.

But only one of Georgia’s GOP congressmen, Roswell Republican Tom Price, has confirmed he will attend.

University of Georgia political scientist Charles Bullock said, "They at least give him [McCain] verbal support, but they aren’t rushing to get photographs with him. If this were Ronald Reagan, they would all somehow manage to be there."

Nathan Deal and Paul Broun don't know if they'll attend tonight's fundraiser. Phil Gingrey has said he wants to stay in Washington and yell and scream some more in the dark. Lynn Westmoreland is taking a vaction. John Linder has a scheduling conflict. And finally, Jack Kingston says he's recovering from back surgery.

Of course, if you let the "G7" tell it, they all enthusiastically support the Republicans' presumptive presidential nominee.
