Atlantan Named As A Finalist In Democratic Convention YouTube Contest

Back in July, the Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) announced the launch of a national online video contest with YouTubeasking Americans to answer the question, "Why are you a Democrat in 2008?"

Nearly a month and hundreds of entries later, the DNCC today announced the five finalists in the YouTube/Democratic Convention video contest, and one hails from right here in Georgia.

Atlanta resident Morgan Harper, who describes herself as an 18 year old first time voter in her video, says that she's a Democrat in 2008 because she "believes that it is not only time to act on my future, but for the future of everyone in this nation."

Beginning today and lasting until noon on August 13th, members of the YouTube community can vote for Morgan's entry.

You can cast your vote for Morgan Harper by visiting www.youtube.com/demconvention.

The video receiving the greatest number of votes will win the contest and be announced on August 14.

The winner of the 2008 Convention Video Program with YouTube will attend the Democratic National Convention in Denver in August and see their winning video played before thousands of delegates, elected officials and other Convention guests.

YouTube will also send the winner on the campaign trail for a day, where as a member of the traveling press pool, the winner will record a video documenting the daily activities of the Democratic nominee, Senator Barack Obama.
