An Update On My DNC Delegate Campaign

As you may know, I'm running to be a pledged Democratic National Convention delegate for Sen. Clinton from the 13th Congressional district. Wednesday, I sent out a press release formally announcing my candidacy to media outlets in the 13th district. I've posted it below.

If you'd like to pledge your support to my candidacy, I've set up page at where you can RSVP for the 13th Congressional District Caucuses on April 19th. Also, here's a flyer that has some very important caucus information on it including what forms of ID will be accepted and when & where the caucuses will be held.

Below, in the extended entry, is the previously mentioned press release:

Local Democrat Announces Candidacy for National Convention Delegate

(College Park, Georgia) – South Fulton Democratic activist Andre Walker has announced that he will seek to represent Georgia's 13th Congressional District as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Denver this August.

"I'm running to be a delegate because quite frankly, this Convention counts," Walker said. In Denver, each and every delegate will have to vote on important issues such as whether the votes from Florida and Michigan will be counted and the Democratic Party's national platform for the next four years.

"It's an awesome responsibility and I know that I am more than equal to the task," Walker continued.

The 13th Congressional District Caucuses, sponsored by the Democratic Party of Georgia, will chose six individuals to go to Denver from the 13th district. Any registered voter in the 13th district who signs a statement saying they believe in the goals and principles of the Democratic Party may participate and vote in the caucus election.

The delegate selection caucus is scheduled for Saturday, April 19, 2008 at Benjamin Banneker High School located at 5395 Feldwood Road in College Park. The doors open at 9:00a.m. and the caucus begins at 11:00.
